Tribute by Revd. Richard Cowles

I first met Nick & Maureen when training for the Anglican ministry at Cuddesdon, and then, just a few years later, saw much more of them when I became their vicar.

Nick was the Treasurer of All Saints Church Cuddesdon, and an ideal man for the job with his wealth of experience in banking. He was patient and meticulous and had the full confidence of the other officers of the Parochial Church Council, as well as myself, regarding matters of parish finance. He was a man of complete integrity and also a good team player, with a nice sense of humour.

The Church was an important part of his life and he was a regular and devout member of the congregation. He could also be called on to deputise at the organ when necessary - he was a capable musician.

Another keen interest was cricket, and he was proud to be an associate member of the MCC. He was kind enough to invite me to Lords cricket ground - my first visit.

He was personally supportive and I recall happy conversations in the conservatory of Nick & Maureens’s beautiful home.

I have only good memories of him. Many including myself will have reason to remember him with gratitude.
